I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing - Lucy Layton

Our LCM featured artist today, Lucy Layton has just released an updated hard hitting charity song and video for Syria Relief. It's a cover of a track first recorded by The New Seekers in 1971. It's probably best known as the song which featured on a very famous Coca-Cola advert. Keeping the family connection alive Paul Layton of The New Seekers is Lucy's father.

If you would like to buy the song or donate to the charity you can do so through Lucy's website.

Lucy Layton and her band are seen performing up and down the country and in their home town of London all year round. Lucy and the band perform songs from her first album 'Downbeat & Loved' and also some surprise tracks from the next album, which is to be released later this year.

Downbeat and Loved was written and produced by Lucy together with a selection of talented British and Irish musicians, who deliver an emotional soundscape supporting the lyrics; which deal with a journey that starts with heartbreak and ends with finding love again. The album has flavours of Folk & Country Blues and a hint towards the 1970's. Lucy co-wrote some of the tracks with talented Irish writer and friend Richard Murray.

Lucy's first self penned album was recorded in Kingston upon Thames, in London, England from her starter point her piano and then adding Cello's, Guitars, Bass, Drums, Mandolin, Ukelele and Harmonica.

Lucy & co are currently doing a radio tour of the UK stations this month as well as well as TV appearances for a charity single she is releasing. All proceeds from the single of 'I'd Like to Teach The World to sing' are going directly to Syria Relief.
