Our showcase artist is London based singer-songwriter Ralegh Long, who has recently released a great debut album 'Hoverance' in April on Gare Du Nord Records. The title is a neologism, about hovering between this world and the afterlife. It’s an album of ballads that are as much elegies to lost love as they are an expression of Ralegh's rapture at nature (Gulls Hovering, The Light of the Sun, All the Leaves Are Gone, Beginning the World). The tracks, many of them recorded live in single takes sound extremely lush, even at their most stripped-down. Ralegh (with his full band) is headlining at St. Pancras Old Church, London on the 2nd September which promises to be a special night.
This beautifully pastoral record features a cast of collaborators including Tom Dougall of Toy, string-arranger Louis-Philippe, Jack Hayter (ex-Hefner) and A Little Orchestra.
“You’ll be reminded variously of Nilsson, early Todd Rundgren, even Alex Chilton” (The Guardian)
“Really, really beautiful” Headphones moment" (Lauren Laverne, BBC6music)
