THE WINEMAKERS CLUB, FARRINGDON (LONDON)
Address: 41a Farringdon St, London EC4A 4AN
Venue type: Acoustic
Capacity: Max 77 in a theatre style layout or 50 with cabaret/folk style tables
The Winemakers Club is a working wine importer and shop which converts to a gem of a music venue on a Saturday evening. It is located under Holborn viaduct a short walk from both St. Paul's and Farringdon underground stations. The WMC provide a perfect atmospheric candle-lit setting for intimate acoustic music. The music night is run by Rory Carlile of New Roots Promotions.
It seats either 77 in a theatre, seated rows layout, or 50 in a candle-lit tables and chairs folk-club/ cabaret layout.
It's not suited to excessive volume, drumkits, heavily amplified instruments or high-tempo music with loud dynamics, but it sounds absolutely fantastic for anything with acoustic/chamber instruments- double bass, cello, fiddles, acoustic guitars, accordians, cajon and other percussion, stage piano, clarinet, flute, and any music that has an element of space in it.
It has a suitably sized 8 channel Yamaha 500 watt p.a. with a set of SM58s, but no other backline. It's attached to a beautiful wine, craft beer and whiskey bar in the adjacent arch, it's available only on Saturday nights, and it's two minutes from Farringdon tube station.
If you think your sound suits the above it's the perfect place for a special event gig, an album launch or an ep launch. If you think it might be of interest we can talk about what the deal is..
Those that have played there and will be playing in 2016 include: Stick In The Wheel, Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker, Jim Moray, O'Hooley & Tidow, Leveret, Mishaped Pearls, Adam Beattie, Brooke Sharkey, Whiskey Moonface, John Langan & Alsatiar Caplin, Katey Brooks & more
