Our next Oxfordshire based showcase duo gave a very impressive performance at SPOC for a charity gig for Solace Aid in May 2016. Ysabelle Durant - (vocals, percussion) and Chrissy Renker (vocals, guitar, piano) are better known as Wednesday's Wolves. We think you are going to be hearing a lot more about Ysabelle and Chrissy in the future and the duo are one of our 'LCM Ones to Watch in 2016' . Our chosen song above is 'Silver For The Boatman' taken from their second EP 'The Boatman'.

Wednesday's Wolves are Chrissy Renker and Ysabelle Durant, a female contemporary folk duo from Oxfordshire. Both third culture kids, they met while at school in Sri Lanka although their musical collaboration didn't start until they had both finished University. They first started playing and writing original material together in 2013. Since forming the band they have been playing at small venues around London and Oxfordshire, and have performed on the same bill as Iain Archer, Rory Butler, Beth Rowley, Luke Sital-Singh and Steve Apirana. In 2014, they played several small festivals including Greenbelt, and Folk Weekend Oxford.

Their songs use simple guitar riffs and vocal harmonies combined with percussive instruments such as cajon and glockenspiel to create emotive and evocative music, usually with a melancholic edge.

“I can honestly say that I have never been un-expectedly blown away so much by the next song I heard which started a set by a new duo called Wednesday Wolves…. The haunting melodies that oozed from this unassuming duo just echoed around the 12 Bar Club like rowsing ancient hymnes”
– Music Earth Rise 2014

“…Wednesday’s Wolves are just awesomely spellbinding. Beautiful harmonies, beautiful instrument playing that is guaranteed to take you to a land where the mist roll through an ancient forest”
– Seahorse Promotions 2014

“…Chrissy and Ysabelle each have vocal textures reminiscent of a mix of Joan Baez and Natalie Merchant, and together are able to create some incredible harmonies”
- Top Five Records 2014
