LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Patience’ - Katie Nicholas
Our featured track today is the wonderful new single from Liverpool singer-songwriter Katie Nicholas. We also love Katie’s design and artistic side and this comes to the fore in this animated video. After a hiatus Katie is back with new music and new projects and we are all excited here at LCM HQ to hear some of her new material.
Katie comments ‘This song is a very personal one to me, and with almost a 4 year gap between posting my last music video to this, I guess automatically it shows there has been quite a rollercoaster to get back on track. I made this video in 2016 while I was planning my future ahead, I had a vision to start a business with my partner and had put all my energy in to that - but I found myself frustrated, impatient and as though time was slipping through my fingertips. Feeling like I had sloped from the earth after sharing so much of myself and my music already, I decided to make this video to show what I was doing and where I was at with my life... but eventually, even this video never made it out - until now. For everyone, this may seem like a new Katie. For me, this song is 2 (now almost 3) years behind me. I've got a whole new world of music that I'm determined to produce and share, but it felt so wrong to abandon this before I leap into 2019 - where I promised myself to not make the same mistakes. So perhaps, all along this was the right time to release after all, at the end of 2018. The craziest year of my entire life. LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Tell Me That You Love Me’ - James Smith
We first featured the fast rising Upminster based singer-songwriter James Smith after he released his excellent debut single ‘Little Love back in May. We love his brand new single, the classy and soulful piano ballad ‘Tell Me That Love Me’.
The 19-year-old James signed this year to Virgin EMI Records, We think James has a very bright future and he is one of our ‘LCM ones to watch in 2019’. Watch out for new music from James next year.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘All My Friends’ - The Revivalists
Our featured track today is the rocky and soulful ‘All My Friends’ from New Orleans based The Revivalists. It’s one of the lead tracks from their recently released album ‘Take Good Care’ and the song which gives the album its title.
Recognized as an extraordinary live band The Revivalists feature acclaimed musicians David Shaw [lead vocals/guitar], Zack Feinberg [guitar], Andrew Campanelli [drums], George Gekas [bass], Ed Williams [pedal steel guitar], Rob Ingraham [saxophone], Michael Girardot [keyboard & trumpet].
The band has sold-out headlining tours in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and performed sets at such marquee festivals as Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Outside Lands, and Austin City Limits. This past year they were invited to perform on the main stage at New Orleans’ Jazz Fest (after six years playing the second stage) for 40,000 people, attracted 5,000 fans to their show at Central Park’s Summer Stage in New York City, and visited cities like Toronto for the first time playing to packed houses.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘My Type’ - Saint Motel
I can almost guarantee that you have already heard the brass section hook on this 2014 hit by the very innovative LA band Saint Motel, who go full earworm on ‘My Type’. The song reminds me of a funky disco version of The Divine Comedy. Saint Motel feature A/J Jackson (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Aaron Sharp (lead guitar), Dak Lerdamornpong (bass) and Greg Erwin (drums). The band has a range of styles from "dream pop" to "indie prog” rock..
On July 11 2016, Saint Motel announced their second album, ‘Saintmotelevision’, released on October 21, 2016. The band embarked on a North American tour in support of the album, with Hippo Campus and JR JR as supporting acts. On August 12, Saint Motel released the album's first single, "Move," with an accompanying 360-degree video. In September, in an exclusive with Billboard, they released another song from the album, "You Can Be You.". Saint Motel has released 10 virtual reality components, one for each song on the album. This makes Saint Motel the first band to release an entire album with a virtual reality VR experience to accompany every track. One year after releasing the first-ever virtual reality album, Saint Motel has continued to experiment with new technologies, releasing the first-ever augmented reality version of Saintmotelevision, as well as offering the option to purchase the albums ‘ForPlay’ and ‘Voyeur’ with Bitcoin

LCM Song of the Day: ‘Growing Pains’ - Alessia Cara
We travel to Toronto today to meet our next LCM featured artist Grammy award winning Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Caracciolo, better known by her stage name Alessia Cara, We love this stripped back live acoustic version of her hit ‘Growing Pains’ filmed recently at a Vevo X session at Brooklyn's famed Grand Prospect Hall. Alessia releases her wonderful sophomore album 'The Pains of Growing' on November 30th. Alessia has four Grammy nominations including a win for ‘Best New Artist’ earlier this year.
When you generate as much fan love as Alessia has in the last few years, it's little wonder than your ever-growing audience can't wait for your new album. That's what's happening with Alessia’s latest and the first to arrive since she won the "Best New Artist" award at the Grammys earlier this year. The Canadian singer with the deep love of family and the unique way of blending pop with R&B touches, has brought the world a handful of hits, including "Wild Things," "Seventeen" and "Scars To Your Beautiful" as well as a cool collab with Zedd and other stars.
LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘High In The Valley’ - Dominique Pruitt
Our next LCM featured artist LA based Dominique Pruitt comes from a rich musical family. Her father Larry Brown once played in The Association and Smothers Brothers before joining Engelbert Humperdinck in the ‘80s, where he met and forged a romantic relationship with her mother, singer Anne-Marie Brown (The Babys, Jon Waite). Dominique has just released her wonderful new comeback single ‘High In The Valley’. It’s a retro ‘Nancy Sinatra’ infused blend of rockabilly and pop, paying homage to the sounds of her youth, but with a unique fresh twist. It’s Dominique’s first release in five years

“I had written down that song title a few years ago. It was such a part of me at one point to feel like I was trapped in this hopelessness of being so close to what you want in a way but so far away,” Dominique comments about the song, which was written with Jasmine Ash, Joseph Holiday and Kenny Fleetwood. Amidst the flecks of cracked motel paint and peeling wallpaper, Dominique finds herself in her very own Spaghetti Western.
Dominique first recorded three demos of her father’s old songs in 2009, and in 2011 her music fell into the right hands and she was ultimately signed to Merovee Records. Her Dave Darling (Tom Waits, Brian Setzer) produced EP ‘To Win Your Love’ was released in 2013, and while she had her debut full-length all ready to go after working with him, things didn’t exactly feel right anymore and the record was shelved. The label closed soon after and she was left wandering around to find her next move.
“High in the Valley” is a smokey concoction of forlorn spirits caught in grungy dive bars in nowhere middle America, the dust of the open road crawling along the floor and the neons piercing the crowd’s dilated pupils. Her spirit and heart are on full display, culled together with remarkable musical depth. “I love Wanda Jackson,” she says. “I went head over heels the first time I heard her.”
Dominique evokes imagery of vintage showgirls and the mystique of burlesque into her music and performances, beckoning the listener into a world long gone. The accompanying visual, directed by Dana Boulos and styled by Shana Anderson, is inspired by fame French photographer Guy Bourdin. The aesthetic is classic without being pretentious, accessible but universal, colorful but not overexposed.

LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘No Roots’ - Alice Merton
We have a very catchy song today to get your blood pumping and toes tapping. The very talented rising star and award winning singer-songwriter Alice Merton is very well traveled. She was born in Germany and raised in Canada and England. The very aptly named ‘No Roots’ is the title track of her debut EP released back in 2016. We dedicate it to all travelling globe-trotting musicians and anyone who ‘likes digging holes and burying things inside them’ #Blacklist
Growing up around the world Alice was as influenced by other cultures as much her own transience. Alice’s absorption of different styles helped create her distinctive sound. As a child, she learned classical piano and singing while in Canada. When Alice was a teenager, her family moved to Germany, where she would pick up the guitar and write her first song. While in Germany, she also studied at the Mannheim conservatory of music. Later, the family would relocate again, this time to England. Alice won the 2018 EBBA award.

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Carry On’ - Ruelle (ft. Fleurie)
We travel today to Nashville meet Margaret "Maggie" Eckford better known by her stage name ‘Ruelle’. Our chosen song is the beautiful ‘Carry On’ also featuring US singer-songwriter Fleurie. This stunning new video was filmed in Iceland.
Maggie comments about the song “I wanted to create something that sheds light on the goodness of humanity in the midst of what seems like a lot of darkness. I have always believed that people in their ugliest, most hateful states have all been wounded in some way, at some point in their lives. I wanted to portray the common threads in humanity: We all feel pain. We all believe in something...and that more than ever, we should be coming together to lift one another up, not tearing each other down. It’s about the beauty of people coming together regardless of their differences”.
Maggie’s music is a wonderful blend of electronic pop and has been used widely on US television series including ‘Shadowhunters’ and The ‘Shannara Chronicles’ themes and placements in ‘Arrow’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘Quantico’, ‘The Vampire Diaries’, ‘The Walking Dead’ and many more.
She grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and attended music school in Sydney, Australia. She adopted the French word "Ruelle" as her stage name because she liked how it gave off a sense of darkness and mystery and how it had multiple meanings including "chamber" and "wolf".

LCM #SongOfTheDay: High On Love - Frankie Davies
With her debut album ‘Wherever I Go’ released on the 26th October, it’s a very exciting time for Jersey born singer-songwriter Frankie Davies. This highly anticipated album encapsulates Frankie’s journey and experiences over the last four years.
With performances at C2C, CMA Fest and BBC Introducing in Nashville and tours with Maddie & Tae, Chris Young, Charlie Worsham, Mo Pitney, The Shires and Ward Thomas, the future is looking very bright for Frankie and her music.
Frankie will be on a UK tour in November with her band, catch her if you can.

LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘Party Of One’ - Brandi Carlile (ft. Sam Smith)
The excellent “Party Of One” was recorded live at Capitol studios and produced by Dave Cobb. This great duet by Brandi and Sam sees them combining their considerable talents to support a cause very close to their hearts, ‘Children In Conflict’. A portion of the profits of the new single will go to the charity.

LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘Drive’ - Remember Monday
Remember Monday are a country-pop trio featuring Holly-Anne Hull, Lauren Byrne and Charlotte Steele. They are launching their latest single ‘Drive’ at The Troubadour in London this evening. It was produced by Tim Prottey-Jones of The Wandering Hearts. We love their rich harmonies and songwriting, and think this could be their breakthrough year. They remind us of a fusion of The Dixie Chicks, The Wreckers, Runaway June and The Pistol Annies.
They girls met at college at age 17, and bonded over their mutual love of John Mayer and harmonies. From there it was a short seven years before Remember Monday was born. They were known for a number of years as 'Houston', and released their debut EP 'Manuscripts' in March 2018. The first track, "Your Kinda Love", reached number 3 in the iTunes Country Music Chart in the first week of release.
After wowing audiences at festivals across the UK this summer, they are now working on new music, which will be released later this year.
LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘Good On You Son’ - Mark Knopfler
As huge DIre Straits fan it’s always exciting when Mark Knopfler releases new music. We love this very catchy new single taken for his forthcoming album ‘Down The Road Wherever’ due for release on November 16th.
Ask Mark Knopfler to explain the title of his ninth solo studio album and he will tell you that ‘Down The Road Wherever’ is a line from one of the tracks: 'One Song At A Time.' He'll give the credit for that title phrase to a sadly departed friend with whom he shared a lifelong love of songwriting and guitar playing, and their endless potential to change lives.
‘I remember my pal Chet Atkins once saying that he picked his way out of poverty one song at a time, and it just stuck in my mind,’ says Mark. ‘You get to an age where it is a few songs. But Down The Road Wherever seems to be appropriate, just because it's what I've always done. I've always tried to keep my own geography happening in the songs, that applies there as well.’ In One Song At A Time' that autobiographical geography pinpoints Deptford, where the up-and-coming Dire Straits began to make their way, one song at a time.
The unassuming spirit of the itinerant songsmith is still Knopfler's pilot light, inextinguishable through more than 40 years at the absolute pinnacle of his profession. ‘Down The Road Wherever’ is the latest, elegant evidence of that steadfast hunger, a bold and often surprising songbook of 14 selections (more on the deluxe editions) boiled down from twice as many that went into the workshop.
LCM #SongOfTheDay - Until The Night Is Over
Our wonderful featured song today is Cheshire singer-songwriter Sam Lyon’s latest single and it was written as a present for her father. We think that the song really showcases Sam’s songwriting, arrangements and pure vocals. Sam comments “A few years ago, my dad got a tattoo of some song lyrics on his arm. These lyrics were from a song I wrote when I was about 15. It was his favourite song of mine, and yet, I never released it. Well, today it's his birthday, and since I only ever buy him socks, I figured this might make for a nice surprise. So, without further ado, this is my latest (yet almost my oldest) single, 'Until The Night Is Over'.”
LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘You’re Not Alone’ - Lucy May Walker
Opening the Sunday programme at the recent Music Makers Festival was the very talented Lucy May Walker, a folk pop singer-songwriter originally from Worcestershire but now London based. You can often find Lucy busking around London, if you do please say hello. We really like our featured track today ‘You’re Not Alone’ which was written about her life in the capital. It’s taken from Lucy’s EP ‘Heartbreak Songs’, which reached No.3 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart chart and received numerous plays on BBC Introducing across the Midlands.
Catch Lucy on 31st October at 1:30 PM as she performs a live session and has an interview with Jeremy Vine’s on his BBC Radio 2 show.
April 2018 saw Lucy set off on her debut UK headline tour, selling out in both Birmingham & London. She has also supported the likes of The Dunwells, Mark Wilkinson & most recently Lucy Spraggan.
LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘Stone Cold Classic’ - AKA George
For the next few days we are going to be featuring some of the many excellent artists at this year’s Music Makers Festival in London. First up is London based multi-instrumentalist AKA George. We really love ‘Stone Cold Classic’, a catchy pop gem rooted in classic rock rebellion. With a full band It really reminded us live of the great and sadly missed INXS,. The song has also been featured on a recent Skoda ad.
AKA George currently has 30 million+ YouTube views and is forging his own way in the indie music world after turning down a couple of record companies already.
It all began after uploading a cover of Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' to the internet, which he mainly did it to amuse his friends. Tens of millions of views later, Pharrell Williams gave his nod of approval calling him a ‘genius’, sparking a major label scrum in the process. But then he took a step back. Wanting to retain his independence, AKA George vowed to move ahead on his own.
Going places fast we think AKA George could be one to watch……..
LCM #SongOfTheDay: ‘Broken’ - Callaghan
Our featured song today could quite easily be the next James Bond movie theme. It’s powerful and big, it’s emotive and it has an 30 piece orchestra with a wonderful string and piano arrangement. ‘Broken’ was written by Callaghan and Starr Parodi and the video was filmed recently in sunny LA. It’s one of the great lead songs from Callaghan’s new self titled album released at the end of August.
Relocating to LA, UK born Georgina has been very busy crafting a more cinema pop oriented sound, moving away slightly from her previous excellent Country-Pop releases. The new album still has her high quality songwriting and rich pure vocals.

LCM #SongOfTheDay; Collide - Tom Speight
Our featured artist today is the fast rising London based indie singer-songwriter Tom Speight. We love his new single ‘Collide’ which was released today. The song also features the wonderful vocals of Lydia Mary Clowes. Tom is currently on a UK tour, with dates in Manchester tonight, Birmingham tomorrow and a London date at Thousand Islands on the 11th October. The song was written in Belfast in January and epitomises a very personal and difficult journey for Tom due to his bad health. The song pictures falling for someone and knowing it could be like this forever.
It’s very appropriate that we are featuring Tom’s music today on the eve of the Music Maker’s Festival, as that is where we first met Tom and his band last year. Tom’s back catalogue is excellent and worth checking out if you haven’t discover his music before.
