Haze - The King's Parade (12/05/17)

  • Artist: The King's Parade
  • Genre: Soul, Blue, Pop
  • Release Date: 12th May, 2017
  • Record Label: The King's Parade
  • Tracks: 4
  • Website: www.thekingsparade.com

Since their formation in 2012, this four-piece’s assured touch of classic Detroit blues with melodic, crossover pop has evoked the crafted sounds of Jamie Woon, Leon Bridges and Alabama Shakes.

After releasing their debut EP ‘Vagabond' in 2015 as well as a string of singles including ‘Bunched Up Letters’, ‘Silhouette’ and ‘Gathering the Pieces of a Broken Heart', The King’s Parade have seen themselves picking up wide critical acclaim. They also independently sold out London’s OSLO on the last leg of their debut sold-out European tour – echoing a growing number of hype acts growing fan bases and selling out large venues completely under the radar.

Their classic sound was honed by musicians that were previously playing together more than 40 hours a week on a Hawaiian cruise ship. Think the Beatles’ unknown early gigs in Hamburg’s strip clubs and you’re just about there. The King’s Parade continue to refine a new soul blueprint that’s seeing a loyal and expectant fan base grow by the day, cementing their status as one of the most naturally talented and hustling young acts this year.

Beginnings - Hannah's Yard (12/05/17)

  • Genre: Pop, Jazz, Folk, Country
  • Release Date: 12th May, 2017
  • Record Label: Superphonix Limited
  • Tracks: 14

We head to Buckinghamshire for our next excellent young LCM featured artist. At the beating heart of the musical collective known as 'Hannah’s Yard' lies the beautifully understated voice of 21 year old singer Hannah Layton Turner. Think Nora Jones with touches of Katie Melua. The band's music is on the acoustic pop side with a heady fusion of Jazz, Folk and Country. Their debut album ‘Beginnings’ was released on 12 May 2017 and features 14 songs recorded in Hannah’s home town of Olney (not far from Milton Keynes)…the small English town where ‘Amazing Grace’ was written in the 1770s. This wonderful collection of meaningful songs about life and love includes a recording of Hannah at just 15 years of age, when she first met fellow musicians Barnaby Pinny and James Reader.

An upload of the collective’s song and our LCM #TrackOfTheDay 'Why Would I Know' to the BBC Introducing website in September 2015, resulted in a first national radio play on Mark Forrest’s BBC Introducing show the following November. Local station BBC Three Counties Radio immediately awarded the song ‘Introducing Track of the Week’ resulting in cross-station airplay and invitations to perform live on the station.

An official launch of the song was expedited and by February 2016, following a live performance on his BBC Radio Oxford show, Alex Lester played ‘Why Would I Know’ on his Radio Two programme. Hannah’s Yard went on to appear on Robert Elms’ BBC Radio London show at the end of February marking a remarkable six months of progress for Hannah and her musicians.

Excitingly the band supported Gordon Haskell on his UK tour earlier this year.

Meg Mac - Low Blows (14/07/17)

  • Artist: Meg Mac
  • Genre: Indie Pop, Singer-songwriter
  • Release Date: 14th July, 2017.
  • Record Label: 300 Entertainment
  • Tracks: 11
  • Website: https://www.megmac.com.au/

Meg Mac is back, burning bright with her keenly anticipated debut album 'Low Blows;' a powerful set of dynamic, deep soul, exhortations that have an all-enveloping atmosphere and presence; 'Low Blows' is distinctly and uniquely Meg Mac. In 2014, Meg Mac was named Triple J's Unearthed artist of the year; the station spearheaded her trajectory worldwide, playing multiple tracks from her highly acclaimed debut EP. "Roll up your sleeves" was played on radio across America and featured in the US TV series 'Girls' and 'Grace and Frankie.' In 2016 she was in Triple J's Top 5 'Unearthed' discoveries of the last decade. Meg has played festivals and sold out shows in Australia, America & UK but the most momentous was with D'Angelo. "The most inspiring was the 'Black Messiah" tour with D'Angelo, I learned what it was to tour America, it was all real and that's the magic." Meg explains. "We played theaters, from LA, across the South and up to New York where I also played with Gary Clark Jr." Gary Clark commented "I heard this voice. I was blown away by how powerful her voice was and how cool she was. It blew my mind. She's amazing" " Meg Mac recorded her debut album 'Low Blows' in America with 'Niles City Sound' who produced and played on the Leon Bridges album.

Paradisia - Sound Of Freedom (26/05/17)

ophie-Rose and Kristy played their first show together in a support slot at Brixton Academy in 2010 whilst playing in punk band 'Rum Shebeen'. A chance spotting of a harp belonging to Anna at her house party united the three, as well as a mutual love of Joni Mitchell, and since then the past five years have been spent working together on a number of musical projects. Having toured extensively with these previous projects, supporting the likes of Paolo Nutini, Carole King and Bruce Springsteen in Hyde Park, Paradisia spent time in Berlin to record their debut record in 2015 and chose their cover of Springsteen’s 'Dancing in the Dark' as their debut single. The track rose to #8 in the HypeMachine chart and has over 50,000 plays on SoundCloud to date. Of the track, the band says ‘it’s a beautifully written song and slowing it down was our way of bringing attention to the lyrics, so we wanted to show the beauty and sadness of them with our own interpretation’.

The band's name itself is a word they use to describe an idealistic and beautiful aesthetic, a space away from reality to a place that occupies a perfect limbo between this world and a dreamlike utopia, the diversion to a higher sphere that music tends to offer most often: escapism. With relatable lyrics that draw inspiration from personal experiences, Paradisia is a world into which most can escape.

Paradisia released their 12-track debut album 'Sound Of Freedom' on the 26th May, 2017.

Already one of the leading young stars of UK Country and Americana, Megan O'Neil together with the core team of Dan Clark and Tom Smith formed a new band called 'Megan & The Common Threads' just under a year ago. Their first band gig was held at the famous 'Troubadour' in West London', which I had the great pleasure of attending. 'Stories To Tell' is their new exciting debut mini album, with it's launch gig planned at the new Sound Lounge in Tooting on 3rd March. It was produced by the legendary Guy Fletcher (Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, Roxy Music) at British Grove Studios last year. Keston Cobbler's Club - Almost Home (31/03/17)

  • Artist: Keston Cobbler's Club
  • Genre: Indie Folk, Pop
  • Release Date: 31st March, 2017
  • Record Label: Tricolour Records
  • Tracks: 12
  • Website: http://kestoncobblers.club/

London five-piece the Keston Cobblers Club have always been a very innovative band with super foot stomping and toe tapping live shows and highly creative home-made videos. With amazing warmth and musicianship, they are a very hard band not to like. After their highly acclaimed previous album 'Wildfire' gained huge praise across the board, their latest album 'Almost Home'is a similar masterpiece of fresh ingenuity and infectious earworm melodies. The new album is slightly more stripped than 'Wildfire' but still has the trademark KCC high quality. It sees the band returning to it's roots and taking a more simple approach to their songwriting.
