See Another Day - Adriana Spina
It's been a great year for independent Scottish singer-songwriters and their music. We would love to introduce another very good one to you today, the wonderful Adriana Spina. As well as being our featured artist today Adriana is releasing her new second album "Let Out The Dark" shortly via Pledge Music. Our LCM #TrackOfTheDay is about the current human crisis in the Mediterranean and the Middle East called 'See Another Day'. The song will be in aid of the Scottish Refugee Council, with 30p from every download to be donated to the charity.
For over a decade, Adriana has been writing and performing her unique brand of alternative acoustic Americana across the UK and beyond. Her debut album "Never Coming Home" was released in 2011, and she is currently completing work on her second studio album which will be released in 2016 on her own Ragged Road label. In December 2015, Adriana released "Sparkle", a preview single from the new album, to immediate critical acclaim. It was playlisted on BBC Radio Scotland on it's day of release, and was selected by Janice Forsyth as her "Single of the Week".
Along the way, she has been sharing stages with some major artists. In 2008, she opened for Sheryl Crow at her only UK solo date. Adriana was invited to join Joan Armatrading when she returned to the UK as part of her 2014-15 World Tour. She supported at four shows in Scotland, and re-joined the tour in March 2015 when Joan returned to play a further four Scottish gigs, in Arbroath, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, concluding with a performance at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
She has gained the support of legendary music impresario Alan McGee, having performed at two of his curated shows to date, with more in the planning. She has also performed with many other great artists - Paolo Nutini, Dar Williams, Kim Richey, Eddi Reader, Boo Hewerdine, Black, Midge Ure, to name a few.
