LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Slow It Down’ - Joe Slater
Our featured track today is the latest atmospheric single from very fast rising Liverpool singer-songwriter Joe Slater. Currently working with our friends at Talentbanq, Joe is rapidly gaining recognition as an excellent live performer.
If you would like to see Joe live in London he is playing at the Hard Rock Cafe on Oxford Street tomorrow (Jul 27th) and at the Green Note in Camden on July 31st.
Hailing from Croxteth, Liverpool and at just 22, Joe Slater delivers a smooth saturating blend of rock, blues and soul that is beyond his years. Joe’s songwriting and unique vocals take listeners on a journey comprised of energetic sing-alongs and anthemic ballads, full of interior and reflective moments that only the greats could inspire.
Joe recorded with Rock N Roll royalty. His new ‘State of the Ark’ EP was produced by " Kipper" (Sting and many more), engineered by Cameron Craig (Adele and many more) and Mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
Since the release of new single ‘Lady’ last year, things have certainly taking off for the kid from Croxteth. Wiithin 24 hours ‘Lady’ was picked up by BBC Radio Merseyside and subsequently given national BBC Introducing radio-play after being hand-picked by Tom Robinson on Radio 6.
Next came the call from British Airways confirming that Joe's forthcoming EP, ‘State of the Ark’, will be available on all long-haul flights from February 1st 2019, reaching up to 1 million listeners a month.
To add more froth to the story, Joe was Caffe Nero's artist of the month during December, with ‘Lady’ and other ‘State of the Ark’ tracks playing in over 700 stores every day across the UK.
Kicking off 2019, January saw Joe sell out the award winning Green Note in Camden and pack out Liverpool’s own Parr Street Studios on February 15th which secured him on the line up for this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, Cornbury, LIMF and The Alternative Escape.
LCM Song Of The Day - ‘Wicked Game’ - Grace Carter
Our featured song today is a great atmospheric cover of Chris Isaak’s 1991 hit ‘Wicked Game’ by fast rising London based UK singer-songwriter Grace Carter.
Grace grew up in Brighton listening to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, which is evident in her powerful songwriting, which shows emotional and musical maturity. She began songwriting during her school days, and at the age of fourteen was already performing her own material in public. One year later, Grace had converted her bedroom into a makeshift recording studio and when she reached Music College she taught herself the piano by watching YouTube videos.
Grace rose to prominence after supporting Dua Lipa on tour during The Self-Titled Tour in October 2017, and has additionally been a supporting act for other performers including Rag'n'Bone Man. In 2018-19, she headlined two tours of the UK and Europe. Gracer placed third in BBC Music's "Sound of 2019" poll of industry experts and artists. She is the step-daughter of singer-songwriter and former Music Week journalist Paul Phillips.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Damn’ - LIVVIA
We take a trip to the West Coast and sunny LA to meet San Francisco born Olivia Somerlyn better known by her stage name Livvia. Olivia is currently a student at UC Berkeley. Olivia writes or co-writes all her own music and lyrics, and plays piano, keyboards and guitar. We really like this surfing themed video. The song was also recently used in a episode of Hawaii 5-0.
Olivia has toured the UK with Jessie J and Lawson, including two shows at The O2 Arena in London, and has also opened for the Jonas Brothers. She toured with Big Time Rush and Victoria Justice on Live Nation's 2013 Nickelodeon Summer Break Tour of over 30 cities in the United States. She then toured with Big Time Rush again in Central America and South America. In 2014, she was the featured performer at Sony Pictures Classics' annual Oscar Pre-Awards dinner party. She also performed at that year's New York Fashion Week, at shows for Charlotte Ronson and Isabella Rose Taylor. In 2015, she opened for Meghan Trainor in Glasgow, Manchester, London, Birmingham and also for the dates in Europe for Trainor's That Bass Tour. She also opened for Lindsey Stirling in the same year in the United States.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Still The Good Old Days’ - Sheryl Crow ft Joe Walsh
Recently signed to Big Machine Records, Sheryl’s latest very catchy new single features the always excellent Joe Walsh. The track is the first single from Sheryl forthcoming album ‘Threads’. It’s not often you see a Crow and an ‘Eagle’ together. Also look out for Sheryl’s latest single ‘Prove You Wrong’ ft Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris.
Nine-time GRAMMY Award-winner Sheryl Crow’s forthcoming album of collaborations, ‘THREADS’ is set for release on August 30th via The Valory Music Co. Sheryl comments “’Still The Good Old Days’ totally captures what Joe and I believe about getting older…that life is still fun no matter what stage of life you are at, and that living isn’t just for the young.”
Other advance tracks already setting the pace for this diverse collection include “Redemption Day” featuring Johnny Cash, “Live Wire” featuring Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples and “Prove You Wrong” featuring Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris.
Further elaborating on the project, Sheryl reflected, “I became inspired to record an album of musical experiences with the legacy artists who inspired me to want to be a great songwriter, musician, and producer. It is a celebration with them, and a tribute to them. Just as importantly, I wanted to work with younger artists on this record, who I believe will pick up the torch and continue to light the way for humanity with their stories and their songs for many years to come. LCM Song Of The Day: ‘We Are’ - HAEVN
Our featured track today is the beautifully orchestrated ‘We Are’, a tale of lost love from Dutch duo HEAVN. They are joined for the recording by a 50 piece string orchestra at the Galaxy Studio's in Belgium. It’s taken from their new CD ‘Symphonic Tales’ release, which is available to purchase from their website.
HAEVN was founded by songwriter Marijn van der Meer & film composer Jorrit Kleijnen, working from their studio in Amsterdam. Before releasing any material they teamed up with Tim Bran, the acclaimed producer behind London Grammar and Birdy. This collaboration resulted in the singles 'Finding out More' and 'Where the Heart is' and immediately attracted the attention of two major car brands who used HAEVN's music in their advertisement campaigns. This massive exposure gave the band a headstart and touring was the next step. Soon Marijn and Jorrit found their musical wings in guitarist Tom Veugen, drummer David Broeders and bass player Mart Jeninga. In September 2015 HAEVN gave their first live performance. The unique combination of cinematic melodies performed by Marijns warm vocals has conquered the hearts of many music lovers across Europe.
‘Finding out more’ received airplay on all major Dutch radio stations and got played over 7 million times on Spotify. Volkskrant, Trouw, and Spotify elected HAEVN as 'one to watch' for 2016.
HAEVN received a nomination for an Edison Award and 3FM Award in category 'Best upcoming act'. Their headliner show in Paradiso and other venues across the Netherlands all sold out in a few days. Soon after that, they were part of the headliner acts at festivals Where The Wild Things Are, Indian Summer and Concert At Sea. Their second single 'Bright Lights' again received much airplay on the Dutch radio. In 2017 HAEVN played in a sold out Carré, TivoliVredenburg and Oosterpoort.

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Town’ - Zoee
Hailing from the deep south of Australia but now based in Glasgow, the chart-topping and multi-award winning singer-songwriter Zoee is one of the most exciting young Americana artists to arrive in the UK. Our featured track today is the wonderful ‘Town’. taken from the fim soundtrack of ‘19 Willock Place’. Zoee was commissioned to produce the main soundtrack. This Scottish Government and BBC backed film is planned for global release during 2019.
Zoee is currently working this week in Nashville with her trio of father Dundee (Lead Guitar) and brother
Zedd (Drums/Cajon). But watch out for her on her return to the UK, including at the Millport Festival.
Zoee has touched the hearts of thousands while she’s travelled the world performing from the US to the UK. Her ever-present storytelling & uplifting songwriting style has been compared to world-class artists such as Rod Stewart, James Blunt, Steve Earle, Dolly Parton & Taylor Swift., Zoee keeps her sound grounded & raw, much like the music of the 1970’s & 1980’s. Elegant.
Zoee first crossed the ocean in 2014, for her first tour in North America, recorded and released her first studio demo album in 2015 & moved across the world to the UK in 2016 to pursue her passion for music, where she is currently stands at No#1 on the ReverbNation and Scottish New Music Global Charts and is working on collaborations with many international award-winning artists, including Australian Country Music icon Graeme Connors (John Denver & Jon English).
In July 2017 Zoee graced the BBC Introducing stage at the Brentwood Festival (ft. Headliners Status Quo, Midge Ure, Go West, Missing Andy & Jocelyn Brown), in August she wrapped her month-long stint of performances at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival & by December that year she would earn her place in the Open Mic UK Songwriting showcase where she would come 3rd out of thousands of participants.
In 2018 Zoee headlined at the Mighty Dub Festival in Alnwick, the Spirit of Duncarron Festival, alongside the mighty Saor Patrol and Scottish singer-songwriter John Taylor, and performed at the Millport Country Music Festival taking out 1st place on the Maverick Magazine Emerging Talent showcase and taking to the Main stage to open for Eastenders & Minders, Shane Richie, on the Isle Of Cumbrae.
Zoee was also selected to perform at and was for nominated for three awards at the 2018 Infinitime Music Awards. Categories included: Best Female Artist, Best Solo Record and Best International Act. Zoee won two awards, Best International Act and an unexpected special award for Best Film Soundtrack and Original Song for “Town”.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Changing Days’ - Rose Betts
We had the great pleasure of meeting the very impressive London based singer-songwriter Rose Betts at the Green Note last night. We love Rose’s music and our featured track today is a wonderful introduction. Vocally Rose really reminds us of Diane Birch. Rose is also one of our ‘LCM Ones to watch’ in 2019.
Rose Betts is a singer-songwriter from London. She is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and writer with an uncanny ability to pen beautiful hooks and lyrics with depth beyond her years. She writes alone, but when she plays to an audience with her band she brings them together with soaring melodies and beautifully crafted lyrics that not only capture the imagination but connect with the soul. This girl and her piano defiantly blur genres, demand attention and for a minute, make you forget the mania of modern life.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Worthy’ - LANTA
LANTA is the brand new moniker of friend of LCM Kimberly Anne. The wonderful and reflective ‘Worthy’ is Kim’s recently released new single. We are really looking forward to hearing more new music from this very talented lady.
Kim is currently based in Margate but she will be coming to London for a headline date at The Waiting Room on May 31st.
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Atomic’ - Emma Stevens

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘More Hearts Than Mine’ - Ingrid Andress
Our featured track today is the latest single from fast rising Nashville based singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress. We love this reflective piano led song with its strong cinematic narrative.
Now signed to Warner Nashville/Atlantic Records but originally hailing from Denver, Colorado, Ingrid Andress has been chipping away at expectations of herself, and her sound, since she was a young child. We love this rocking track from the very fast rising London based singer-songwriter Jade Bird. It’s taken from her exciting self titled debut album recently released on April 19th.
Jade Bird is fast becoming one of the most exciting new British voices. With her debut release the 'Somewhere American' EP and 2018's follow-up breakthrough single 'Lottery', Jade has won the hearts of people across the globe. LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Give You Up’ - Dido
Our Sunday chill-out track is the latest atmospheric piano led single from London based singer-songwriter Dido. It’s taken from Dido’s new abum ‘Still On My Mind’ released on March 8th.

Dido is back with her first new album in five years, the stunning ‘Still On My Mind’. ‘is Dido’s 5th studio album and was written and recorded in England, a result of the fruitful and incredibly natural production/songwriting partnership with her long term collaborator and brother (faithless founder) Rollo.
‘It was simple, I only wanted to make another album if it was with him’ says Dido. ‘It was made in such an easy way, all the vocals recorded on the sofa, a lot of it recorded at home’. It follows the 2013 release of the acclaimed ‘Girl Who Got Away’.
‘Still On My Mind’ encapsulates a variety of styles and genres, ranging from her love of hip hop to her folk roots, but ultimately the entire record carries a dance and electronic music sensibility, even on the tracks with no beats. At the core, it's about the songs which capture the beautiful essence of Dido personally and emotionally.

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Hailey’ - James Smith
Our featured track today ‘Hailey’ is the brand new single from very fast rising Essex singer-songwriter James Smith. We have been very impressed with James’ music since we first featured him in LCM after his debut single and this wonderful single will only add to his growing reputation.

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Odyssey’ - The Accidentals
We have been closely following the progress of this wonderful multi-award winning young Michigan based trio for a number of years now. We are thrilled to report that they are crossing the pond for a number of UK gigs. Their London gig is at the Windmill Brixton on May 13th. We rate Katie Larson, Savannah Buist, and Michael Dause very highly, so we would love you to support them. As a taster our LCM featured track today is the title track of their latest album ‘Odyssey’.
Named among Yahoo Music’s “Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2017,” The Accidentals’ adventure began in their hometown of Traverse City, MI, when Larson, a sophomore cellist, and Buist, a junior violinist, were paired for a high school orchestra event. The gifted young musicians became fast friends and before long, band mates. Having both grown up in musical families with professional pianists for fathers and vocalists for mothers, their shared influences bounced between classical, jazz, bluegrass, country, alt-rock, and the obscure.
Dubbing themselves after the musical notes that fall outside of a key signature, The Accidentals recorded and released a pair of independent albums in 2012 and 2013, the latter funded by a hugely successful Kickstarter. Their original songs revealed a band with wide-ranging influences but always true to their orchestral roots. National applause and attention followed, as did acclaimed collaborations with some fellow local artists and independent filmmakers. Other career highlights included scoring arrangements for a 75-piece orchestra to accompany them on their original songs as well as arranging pieces for an opera/dance production with Jennifer and Ryan Lott (Son Lux).
The past five years have seen The Accidentals perform over a thousand live shows, including headline dates, festival sets, and shared stages along such diverse acts as Keller Williams, Martin Sexton, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Bird, The Wailers, Joan Baez, and others. 2015 saw the band embark on their first full-scale national tour. Their SXSW debut saw them hailed by Billboard Magazine for “displaying a genre-hopping range of influences and some smart songwriting skills to go with their abundant musical chops.”
LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Too Far Gone’ - Matt Owens
Matt Owens is a British singer-songwriter and musician, who came to prominence as one of the founder members of indie-folk band Noah and the Whale, and for fronting Rock’n’Roll band Little Mammoths. Our featured track is taken from his debut solo album ‘Whiskey and Orchids’ released on January 11th
If you would like to see Matt live in London he will be supporting Thea Gilmore at The Union Chapel on the 21st May.

LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Fire’ - Sarah Darling
Our next featured artist Sarah Darling is always a big favourite here at LCM. It’s exciting times ahead as Sarah has a fantastic new album called ‘Wonderland’ set for release on June 7th. We were lucky to catch Sarah and her band at Bush Hall in London last night and we can honestly say that you are going to love the new tracks. As a preview our LCM featured track today is the first single ‘Fire’, which really reminds us of Stevie Nicks.
Sarah and the band are currently on a UK and mainland Europe tour (Germany and Austria) and we highly recommend going along to see them. LCM Song Of The Day: ‘Pins & Needles’ - Alesund
We head to Bristol today to meet dreamscape pioneers Ålesund. The band have recently released their debut EP ‘Shift & Flux’ on 15th Feb 2019. The EP is a collection of beautifully crafted songs with a sparse, Nordic undercurrent. Immersive sound; rolling drums; intricate guitar work; and soaring vocals, Our featured track today is the fourth single from their new EP ‘Pins & Needles’. We love the atmospheric vocals full of reverb accompanied by piano. It slowly builds throughout the track to a fitting climax. We think there are shades of Kate Bush.

Alesund are an atmospheric force from the trip hop heartland that create expansive, emotive and exhilarating sound worlds.It is available to download, purchase and stream on all major platforms. Ålesund’s name was inspired by front woman Alba’s Norwegian heritage and is the name of the beautiful west coast town her father grew up in. The scenery of the fjords and mountains seemed to reflect the atmospheric music the band were making (pronounced ‘Aww-le-sund’)”
